The Verdict: Usually Yes — If You Share the Pound
Fuddruckers was born in San Antonio in 1980 on one idea: beef ground fresh in the store, cooked to order, and finished however you like at a self-serve produce bar. The chain is a fraction of its old size now — a few dozen US stores, many franchisee-run — and that is exactly why there is no single "Fuddruckers price." What holds everywhere is the mechanism: the 1 lb build-your-own burger is a full pound of beef designed to be split, and at most stores splitting one puts two people under $20 before tax.
The honest caveat is the spread. The same plain pound is $13.49 in Norfolk, $14.49 in Lubbock, $18.49 in Albuquerque, $18.99 in Billings — and $25.99 at the upscale DC Chinatown location. So the answer is "yes, at most stores," not "yes, everywhere." Order the pound loaded and the picture shifts again: it stays a two-under-$20 in Texas and Virginia but tips over the line in New Mexico and DC.
| The Order | 2026 Price (varies by store) | For Two | Under $20? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Split one 1 lb build-your-own | $13.49–$18.99 plain | A full pound of beef, halved — a real burger each | ✓ At most stores |
| Two hot dogs | $6.99–$9 each | About $14–18 — two dogs, no splitting needed | ✓ Easily (except DC) |
| Two ½ lb build-your-owns | $8.49–$10.99 each | Two half-pound burgers — a burger apiece | ± Usually — check the store |
| Split one loaded 1 lb specialty | $16.49–$25.99 | One loaded pound, halved | ± TX/VA yes · ABQ & DC no |
Two Ways Two People Stay Under $20
The build-your-own pound is the headline, but the hot dogs are the quiet insurance policy at the pricier stores.
Split the 1 lb Burger
≈ $13.49–$18.99 for two
Order one 1 lb build-your-own — a full pound of fresh-ground beef, cooked to order — and split it at the produce bar with a second bun and plate (Fuddruckers hands them over on request). One order, two burgers, under $20 before tax at every store we priced except downtown DC. Keep it plain or lightly loaded and the math never gets close.
The universal Fuddruckers moveTwo Hot Dogs
≈ $14–18 for two
The all-beef dogs are the cheapest hot food on the board — a Big Hot Dog is $6.99 in Billings, and plain dogs run $8–$9 at most stores. Two of them is a full, no-splitting-required meal that clears $20 comfortably everywhere but the DC location, where the chili cheese dog and half-smoke jump to $16.99.
Cheapest at Billings · priciest at DCThe Same Pound, Store by Store
This is the part worth reading before you go. Because Fuddruckers is franchisee-priced, the identical menu item can differ by nearly 2× from one store to the next. Every price below was read off that store's own current source in July 2026 — a dated store menu or, at the Virginia stores, the live online-ordering system — not the shared corporate PDF. Where a store's only posted menu is years old, we say so.
| Store | Plain 1 lb | Loaded 1 lb | Hot dog | Source we priced from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Norfolk / Virginia Beach, VA | $13.49 | $16.49 | $8.49 | Store's live ChowNow ordering |
| Lubbock, TX | $14.49 | $17.48 | $10.49 chili-cheese | Store's Oct 2025 menu |
| Miami, FL | $16.99 | — | — | Store's live order.online, Jul 2026 |
| Albuquerque, NM | $18.49 | $21.48 (over) | $10.99 chili-cheese | Menaul store's Apr 2026 menu |
| Billings, MT | $18.99 no MT tax | ½ lb specialties only | $6.99 big dog | Store's Jul 2026 menu |
| Washington, DC (Chinatown) | $25.99 | $25.99+ | $16.99 | Store's Jul 2025 menu — upscale concept |
| Spartanburg, SC | no 1 lb | — | — | Live order.online — 2/3 lb max ($12); two ½-pounders $18 |
| Corporate to-go PDF (still linked, stale) | $12.79 | $14.99 | $7.99 | 2023 sheet — don't trust it |
Takeaway: split the pound and you win almost everywhere — though a few stores (Spartanburg) don't even put a 1 lb on the menu — so the pre-trip check that actually matters is your store's online-ordering price, not a number from a directory or a printout.
The Menu PDFs Online Are Mostly Fossils
Fuddruckers doesn't attract the fake-coupon industry the big chains do. Its misinformation problem is subtler and more surprising: its own menus, posted on its own store pages, are frequently years out of date.
That's the shared corporate to-go PDF, and some store pages still link it. It's a 2023 sheet — a couple of stores even share one PDF between two addresses. Real 2026 prices for the plain pound run $13.49 to $18.99 at the value stores and $25.99 in DC. Treat the $12.79 as a museum piece.
You probably found a fossil. The Austin store page links a menu stamped May 2020; the Houston one is July 2023. For a chain that grinds its beef fresh every morning, the prices it publishes are anything but. A handful of stores — Albuquerque (April 2026) and Billings (July 2026) — do keep a current PDF, which is the exception that proves the rule.
Price your visit off the store's own online ordering tool, not the PDF. The Virginia stores order through ChowNow, most Texas / New Mexico / Florida stores through order.online, and Austin and DC through a Luby's-hosted system — all of which show live, store-specific prices. When the PDF and the ordering tool disagree, the ordering tool is the one taking your money.
Rule of thumb: the pound-split play is stable; the exact number is not. This page was checked in July 2026.
Fuddruckers Stores We've Priced on This Site
We pulled the roster from Fuddruckers' own locator and kept only stores inside a city we cover, then priced each against its own current menu. All seven clear two-under-$20 — by splitting the 1 lb burger everywhere except Spartanburg, whose menu tops out at a 2/3-pounder (so there it's two ½-pounders for $18). Each links to that city's full cheap-eats guide, where the store's card lives.
- Norfolk, VA 7750 Tidewater Dr · 1 lb $13.49–$16.49
- Virginia Beach, VA 1784 General Booth Blvd · Norfolk's sibling store
- Lubbock, TX 6616 Milwaukee Ave · 1 lb $14.49, loaded $17.48
- Albuquerque, NM 3 stores · 1 lb $18.49 · add NM green chile
- Billings, MT 2011 Overland Ave · 1 lb $18.99, no state tax
- Miami, FL Kendall + Doral · 1 lb $16.99 (order.online)
- Spartanburg, SC 1509 John B White Sr Blvd · no 1 lb — two ½-pounders $18
Priced but left off — Washington, DC (781 7th St NW): the Chinatown store's own July 2025 menu is the upscale full-service concept, with the 1 lb burger at $25.99 and the cheapest burger $19.99, so two genuinely can't clear $20. Still parked — only Las Vegas (Orleans Casino food court) posts no menu we can read; it's a casino food-court stall with prices behind the counter.
