The catch: their new website publishes the whole menu without a single price, so our $8–12 figure can't currently be owner-verified — hence the pending badge.
Veracruz All Natural
Breakfast Tacos for Two
A James Beard-recognized East Austin food trailer famous for the migas taco — egg, crispy tortilla strips, cheese, and avocado — plus fresh-pressed juices. Breakfast tacos now run about $4–6.50 (the famous migas is $6.50), so two people eat an award-winning Austin breakfast for around $20. Always a line.
Joe's Bakery & Coffee Shop
Breakfast Tacos — about $2.75
An East Austin institution run by the Avila family since 1962, now in the Michelin Guide — breakfast tacos with beans, eggs, bacon, and potato run about $2.75 each, plus a pork-chop taco and pan dulce. Two people eat a classic Austin breakfast for around $12. Closed Mondays.
Marcelino's
Breakfast Tacos — $3.85
A tiny East Austin takeout window (Marcelino Pan y Vino) on Tillery Street making tacos on homemade tortillas — breakfast tacos $3.85, meat tacos $4.75 (Elgin sausage, barbacoa, birria), and 6 mini tacos for $12. Two people eat for $15.40–17.20. Weekday mornings into early afternoon.
Discada
Discada Taquitos — 8 for $19.50
A Bib Gourmand East Cesar Chavez food truck built around discada — a sizzling mix of meats cooked on a plow-disc griddle, folded into taquitos at 3 for $8.50, 5 for $13.50, or 8 for $19.50. Two people share the 8-pack at $19.50 with fifty cents to spare — the $7.50 elote has to wait for a flusher day. Tue–Sun.
Cuantos Tacos
CDMX Mini Tacos — $2.75
A Bib Gourmand East Austin truck serving Mexico City-style mini tacos — suadero, longaniza, campechano on small corn tortillas. The truck is very much alive (its own site was updated this month), but the ordering page renders prices only in a browser, so the $2.75-a-taco figure is unverified until someone reads the board. Tue–Sun.
La Fruta Feliz
Lunch Tacos — Two for $18.66
An East Austin Mexican spot on Manor Road whose braised-goat barbacoa is the star — but the star outgrew the budget: goat tacos are $5.19 now and the weekend barbacoa plate runs $18.71. The under-$20 play is the regular lunch tacos from $3.11 — three each lands at $18.66 — with fresh aguas frescas on the side.
Pueblo Viejo
Breakfast Tacos for Two — $19.96 ($1.99 Tuesdays)
An East Austin taqueria (brick-and-mortar plus a trailer at Cosmic Coffee) — street tacos have climbed to $5.75, so the everyday build is breakfast tacos at $4.99: two each is $19.96 with no room for a drink. The real move is Taco Tuesday — $1.99 al pastor at all locations, straight off their own specials page — four each for $15.92.
Pupuseria Usuluteca
Pupusas — $2.49
A North Lamar Salvadoran spot griddling pupusas to order — revueltas, cheese, bean — served with curtido and salsa, daily 8am–10pm. No website, no ordering page, no owner-published prices anywhere: the $2.49-a-pupusa figure needs a phone check, hence the pending badge.
Lily's Sandwich
Banh Mi — $6–7
A tiny cash-only banh mi counter in the North Lamar Chinatown plaza — crusty Vietnamese sandwiches with just a few tables. Reviewers put banh mi at $6–7, which would feed two for about $14, but a cash-only shop with no web presence publishes nothing we can verify — hence the pending badge.
Little Deli & Pizzeria
Jersey-Style Slices — from $3.85
A Crestview neighborhood deli-pizzeria beloved for Jersey-style slices — cheese $3.85, pepperoni $4.25, slice of the day $4.60 — plus Italian subs. Two people each grab a couple of slices for around $16.
Lone Star Kolaches
Texas Kolaches — $3.25
An Austin kolache chain (seven locations) for the Texas breakfast staple — sausage, sausage-cheese-jalapeño, bacon-egg-cheese, and fruit kolaches at about $3.25 each. Two people each grab a couple for around $13. Open early for the commute.

Chef Ting's Fujian-inspired bao kitchen in Mueller — the last shop standing from what was once a multi-location Austin chain, now "Bao'd Up Dumpling Shop." A Texas Trio (3 baos) is $7.95, so one each puts two at $15.90; add shared Szechuan fries ($3.99) and it's $19.89 on the nose. Pork soup dumplings run 5 for $8.99.
Chi'Lantro
Kimchi Fries + Large Ssäm — $20.00 on the Line
Jae Kim launched this as a food truck in 2010, claims the invention of the Original Kimchi Fries, and shook hands with Barbara Corcoran on Shark Tank in 2016 — now nine Austin locations. The build: Original Kimchi Fries ($10.00) plus a Signature Large Ssäm wrap ($10.00), shared, lands at $20.00 on the line, before tax. Two large ssäms hit the same number; a $3 fountain drink is what pushes it over.
Muse Fusion + Sushi
A Classic Roll Each — $19
South Lamar counter-service sushi from the EAAT Restaurant Group, "created by a seasoned chef and proud father to celebrate his daughter," with QR-code ordering, homemade limeades, and boba. A California roll ($9) plus a Crunchy Crunch ($10) is a light-but-real sushi lunch for two at $19 — one miso soup ($4) breaks it, and specialty rolls run $15–18.
Tso Chinese Takeout & Delivery
Two Tso Bowls — $19.90 (Veggie)
A no-tipping Public Benefit Corporation that built its own delivery tech to keep delivery free — now several Austin locations from the Arboretum original. Two Veggie Delight Tso Bowls (~18 oz over rice, $9.95 each) land at $19.90; swap one for Orange Chicken ($10.95) and it's $20.90, just over. Rangoon Wednesdays take 50% off the blue-crab rangoons.
FryDays
Two Loaded Fries — $19–20
East Austin's late-night loaded-fries truck at 12th and Poquito, running 7pm to about 1:40am — every entree is fries-based and named for a vibe. The TGIF pizza fries ($10) plus The Kickback bacon-cheese fries ($10) is $20.00 on the line; drop one to a $9 Build Your Own Vibe and you're at $19. The $16.99 Payday steak fries are the splurge.

Two Chicken Leg Quarters — $14 (Sides Break It)
Chef Damien Brockway's Michelin Guide-listed trailer at Meanwhile Brewing explores African diaspora flavors in Texas barbecue — tamarind-molasses sauce, burnt ends folded into black-eyed peas. The honest math: smoked chicken leg quarters with smoked chili vinegar are $7 each, so two eat for $14 — but one $7 side makes it $21, and sandwiches run $14–16. The menu rotates on the trailer chalkboard, so treat prices as the day's weather.
Mochinut
3 Mochi Donuts + a Rice Dog — $15.49
Chewy rice-flour mochi donuts in the eight-ball pon-de-ring shape, plus Korean rice dogs and boba. Three donuts ($10.00) and an Original rice dog ($5.49) make a $15.49 snack-meal for two; a half dozen donuts to split is $18.00 flat. The original Parmer store closed — the shop lives at The Linc now, with prices verified off the chain's Lakeline-store ordering menu.
GoodenSweet Cookies
Gooden Bites Box to Split — $15
Sean Gooden Sr. — "The Cookie Man," from a family five generations deep in East Austin — relaunched the shop in honor of his late brother, and the square cookies now sit in two Austin-Bergstrom airport shops too. A 12-piece Gooden Bites box ($15.00) splits two ways under budget, or share a 6-count of the World's Famous chocolate chip at $17.00. Walk-in Mon–Sat.

One 11" Pizza Split Two Ways — $13.89, Unlimited Toppings
MOD fast-fires an 11-inch build-your-own pizza in about three minutes, and the model is one price however many of the 40-plus toppings go on it — the chain's own words are "the price always stays the same." The 11-inch MOD-size with unlimited toppings reads $13.89 at the 11521 N Ranch to Market 620 store on MOD's own ordering system, August 2026 — $6.95 a head when two people split it, which is the cheapest honest way through the door. MOD sizes a salad it labels "Mega (Feeds 2)" outright at $15.14, so one order is dinner for both of you without touching the pizza menu. Want your own pie each? Two 6-inch minis with cheese run $13.78. Worth knowing before you go: your first purchase as a MOD Rewards member earns a free MOD-size pizza or salad, which makes round one genuinely two for the price of one. The trap is drinks — two 16 oz fountains add $6.78 and put the loaded 11-inch at $20.67, past the line, so drink water or drop to the $10.69 cheese build. MOD prices by store, so confirm at yours — the spread across the cities we checked runs $11.89 to $16.59 for the same pizza.

The Texas 24/7 burger institution — founded in Corpus Christi in 1950, now ~1,030 stores across 16 states — where 21 Austin stores mean one is always close: the two-for-under-$20 math runs both ways: the Taquito with Cheese Whatameal is $6.39 with hash brown sticks included — two full breakfasts for $12.78, served 11pm to 11am — and the flagship Whataburger Whatameal (burger, fries, drink) is $8.99, so two land at $17.98 any hour; the bacon biscuit sandwich is $4.49 solo. Velvet Taco
Backdoor Chicken $20 — Whole Rotisserie Feast, Mondays Only
The Dallas-born "ridiculously original" taco chain — three Austin stores: Rock Rose at the Domain, 6th & Congress downtown, and Burnet Rd — runs the Mondays-only Backdoor Chicken: a whole rotisserie chicken (brined 48 hours, roasted over an open flame), queso blanco, guac, corn pico, six tortillas and two hot sauces for $20 flat — the price is printed right in the menu name, same at every store in the chain. It's to-go only: order at the counter or app and carry it out. Between two people that's a full build-your-own-taco dinner at the site's namesake number, 161g of protein included. Torchy's Tacos
Breakfast Tacos $4.15 · Two Breakfast Burritos $16.30 · Taco Two Step $9.95
The hometown devil — Torchy's started as an Austin food trailer in 2006 and now runs a dozen stores across the city, from S Congress to Anderson Mill. Breakfast is served all day: the numbered breakfast tacos (bacon or crispy-potato or chorizo with egg and cheese, roja salsa on flour) are $4.15 and the loaded Breakfast Burrito is $8.15, so two burritos run $16.30 and four breakfast tacos $16.60 — the famous migas taco is $4.75. Limited-time bonus, same $9.95 at every store in the chain (all 120 checked, July 2026): the Taco Two Step — pick two signature tacos, served with chips & salsa and a 22oz drink — a complete meal for two at $19.90. Jet's Pizza
$5 Off Any Specialty Pizza Online — Medium All Meaty $17.87
The Detroit-style original — Sterling Heights, Michigan, 1978, the chain that made the buttery, caramel-crusted square a national thing — is nine stores deep in the metro — seven inside Austin proper plus Round Rock and Cedar Park. The play is the $5 Off Any Specialty Pizzas deal built into the chain's online ordering menu: a medium All Meaty (pepperoni, ham, Italian sausage, bacon, hamburger) listed at $22.87 on our August 2026 read at the chain's Denver store and rang up $17.87 with the deal applied — under the line with room for tax, and a medium is eight big slices, plenty for two. It's a deals-menu item so it can rotate out — and if it does, texting your order to your store takes 15% off menu-priced pizza. Prices vary by store, so run the math at yours before checkout.

Jacksonville's biggest food export reaches here too: founded in 1994 by two firefighter brothers, now 1,200+ stores — and its own locator lists 5 stores inside Austin. The $5 Firehouse Snackers (BLT, Cordon Bleu, Sweet & Spicy Ham, Turkey Jalapeño half-subs) feed two for $10.75 all-in, and two small 4-inch Hook & Ladders run $12.78. The 8-inch mediums most people order run $10-plus — the only medium pair that stays near the line is the build-your-own ham or turkey.
