Pel'meni
Dumplings $8–9 a Box
Juneau's iconic cheap eat since 2000 — a wharf-side hole-in-the-wall serving exactly two things: beef or potato Russian dumplings, smothered in butter, curry, sriracha-vinegar and cilantro. A heaping order (over a pound) is $8–9, and they're open absurdly late. Two eat for around $16–18. The best value on the cruise strip, hands down.
Adobo Pinoy Kitchen
Filipino Mixed Plates
A 5-star Filipino food truck on the Clinton Dr lot that locals say feeds the soul — crispy sisig, adobo, lumpia, and mixed plates, plus a covered area to eat. Generous, well-priced portions mean two eat for well under $20. Closed Sun.
Pucker Wilson's Valley
Best Burgers in Juneau
A no-frills burger truck on a Mendenhall Valley gravel pad that regulars call the best burgers in town — perfectly cooked patties, three-way fries with fennel salt, and a drive-through. Reasonable prices for Juneau, so two eat for around $20. A once-a-week local staple.
Bowl of Pho
Pho · Banh Mi · Reasonable
An authentic Vietnamese spot in a Mendenhall Valley strip mall (lovely atrium for watching the rain) that locals call a gem — pho in several sizes, grilled-pork banh mi, fresh spring rolls and Thai tea. Reasonably priced for Alaska: a banh mi and a small or medium pho keep two around $20. Two big bowls run higher.
Deckhand Dave's
Tacos ~$5 · 3-Fish Sampler $14.99
Juneau's beloved fish-taco truck, run by a former commercial fisherman in a lively downtown food-truck park with firepits — wild halibut, rockfish and salmon tacos that locals crown the best in town. À la carte tacos run about $5 and the three-fish sampler is $14.99, so two share the sampler plus a taco for around $20. Touristy spot, genuine value.
Devil's Hideaway
Wings · Burgers
An American food truck sharing the Clinton Dr lot, slinging what fans call the best chicken wings in town (St. Louis dry rub, garlic-truffle) plus burgers and loaded fries. Quick service and park seating; two can eat for around $20 if you split the wings-and-fries. Limited days, so check before you go.
The Rookery Cafe
Breakfast & Lunch · Best Tots
A downtown cafe-bakery that's a local breakfast and lunch favorite — avocado toast, a knockout fried-chicken burger, and what regulars call the best tater tots they've ever had, plus an excellent pastry case. Lunch plates run mid-teens, so two eat for around $20–25; keep it to a sandwich and split the tots to stay near $20. Closed Sun.
Juneau Pizza
Share a Pie
A Mendenhall Valley local favorite with a yummy thick crust, fresh-chopped toppings, cinnamon sticks, and a genuinely nice owner. Share a basic pie and two eat for well under $20 — just go easy on the per-topping add-ons, which stack up fast on the bigger pies. A reliable valley standby.
Coppa
Scones · Craft Lattes · Lunch
A downtown coffee shop with some of the best scones in Alaska (ube, salami, all kinds), craft lattes with house-made syrups, donuts on Fridays, and normally-priced lunch options with vegan and vegetarian picks. Coffee and a couple of pastries keep two well under $20. Weekdays only.
Ale's Bakery
Cupcakes · Bagels · Cinnamon Rolls
A family-run Mendenhall Loop bakery turning out cupcakes, bagels, cinnamon rolls, pies and gluten-free treats at reasonable prices, all prettily decorated. A bagel-and-coffee run or a box of treats keeps two well under $20. (Skip the Saturday hot-dog tent — the cupcakes are the move.) Closed Sun.
Jellyfish Donuts
Famous Salmon Donut
A downtown donut shop best known for the only-in-Alaska salmon donut — a fluffy brioche topped with smoked-salmon cream cheese and scallions, basically a lox bagel as a donut. Big, beautifully decorated rounds (figure ~$5–8 each), so a couple of donuts and coffee runs two around $15–20. More an experience than a meal, and worth it.
Imperial Billiard & Bar
Quesadillas · Pub Grub
Juneau's oldest bar — a dim, neon-lit downtown dive with pool tables, dartboards, and a separate food window doing genuinely good quesadillas and burritos. A quesadilla and a sweet tea (or a couple of cheap eats off the food menu) keep two around $20. Great spot to duck out of the rain.
