A Provo classic by BYU, always slammed (so the food's always fresh) — charbroiled burgers, the pastrami-topped Golden Burger, plus killer fried pickles and onion rings. The broke-college-student move is half-off hamburgers after 8:30pm, so two can eat for around $12–16. Even at full price two stay well under $20. Drive-thru or dine-in. Closed Sun.

Grass-Fed Burgers · Split One
A trendy downtown Provo burger joint where every grass-fed burger comes with a backstory — the Cowboy in LA, the PB&J, the Boring Uncle Bryce — plus waffle fries with a honey-mustardy sauce, served in vintage metal cups. Portions are big enough that a lighter eater can split one, so two share a burger and fries for around $20. Closed Sun.

A local favorite on 900 East with arguably the best cheesesteak in Utah County — plus burgers, tater tots, onion rings, cheesesteak nachos and English potato bites, all fresh and made to order at very reasonable prices (the large soda is huge). Two eat for around $20, and locals say skip the Taco Bell next door. Fast service, tidy dining room. Closed Sun.

A downtown Provo standout (cool murals, salsa bar) with some of the best queso birria tacos around, homemade corn tortillas, sizzling al pastor and carne asada street tacos, and burritos so big you'll only finish half. Tacos run a few dollars each, so two eat a full spread for around $20. Many call it the best Mexican in Provo. Closed Sun.

A friendly Provo taqueria with great asada and al pastor, a load-it-yourself garnish-and-salsa bar, huge burritos and carne-loaded fries. Regular tacos run about $3.55–3.69 and Taco Tuesday specials rotate — check their Instagram for the current deal. Portions are generous and the price-to-food ratio is excellent. A beloved, festive Provo spot doing both Mexican and Salvadoran — the pupusas are the move, alongside chile rellenos, tamales, great rice and a fresh salsa bar, with some of the best agua frescas in the valley. Prices are low and portions hearty, so two eat for around $20. Popular and busy, so service can run slow at the dinner rush. Closed Sun.
El Gallo Giro

A homey, festive Provo sit-down Mexican spot with standout fish tacos, lengua street tacos, gallanitos and the best agua frescas around — plus an actual BYU student-discount menu for poor college students. Two eat a sit-down meal for around $20, less with the discount picks. Heads up: cash only (no cards). Open daily, even Sunday.

A fun Provo fusion spot mixing Mexican and Asian flavors — the buffalo-chicken tacos (fried chicken, pickled veggies, handmade tortilla) are the cult favorite, plus rice bowls, Asian nachos with fried wontons, and buffalo-vinaigrette tots. A hidden-gem Korean mom-and-pop near BYU that regulars call the best Korean in Utah — spicy beef bulgogi, sizzling stone-bowl bibimbap with crispy rice, pork cutlet and ramen. Boxes now run $16–17, so the two-for-$20 play is splitting one (the portions are huge) plus an order of potstickers. Small and can get a 15–20 minute wait, but worth it. Closed Sun.

Provo's favorite breakfast stop (formerly Hruska's) — pillowy Czech kolaches stuffed sweet (maple, apple cheesecake) or savory (sausage-egg-cheese, beef birria), made fresh and fast in front of you. Great prices and two buns are more than filling, so two breakfast for well under $20. Outdoor seating only and a Saturday line, but it moves quick. Closed Sun.

A 4.9-star Provo gem doing house-made gourmet corndogs — a foot-long quarter-pound all-beef dog for about $9 (say yes to the honey), plus cheesy beef dogs and deep-fried Oreos. Two can split a couple of dogs and a fried dessert for around $20. Quick, friendly, and genuinely some of the best corndogs you'll have. Open daily.

Bacon Double Cheeseburger · Shakes
An underrated classic-American burger joint and diner in Provo — a standout bacon double cheeseburger, sweet-potato fries and English chips, fantastic shakes, and even Utah scones, at great prices. Nothing fancy, just good food done right, so two eat for around $20 with a shake to split. Clean, friendly, dependable. Closed Sun.

12-inch Pie Feeds Two — $14.29
A downtown-Provo pizzeria whose own site prices a 12-inch (8-slice) specialty pizza at $14.29 — a whole pie that easily feeds two, about $15.36 with tax. Add a $3.49 dinner salad and two still eat for $17.78.

Two Whole Pies — $17.98
A family-run Provo pizzeria near BYU (aka Nico's). Its own Slice menu prices whole "Everyday" pies at $8.99, so two get a pie each for $17.98 (about $19.32 with tax); a premium pie $10.99 plus $4.49 breadsticks is a cheaper shared build.

Shared Salchipapa + Chicha — $15.98
A downtown-Provo Peruvian spot. Off its own site salchipapa — loaded fries topped with sliced sausage — is $10.99, a big plate two share, plus a $4.99 chicha morada for $15.98. Full entrées run $15–21, so the shared street-food plate is the two-for-$20 play.

Jacksonville's biggest food export reaches here too: founded in 1994 by two firefighter brothers, now 1,200+ stores — with one store in town at 62 West Bulldog Blvd. The $5 Firehouse Snackers (BLT, Cordon Bleu, Sweet & Spicy Ham, Turkey Jalapeño half-subs) feed two for $10.75 all-in, and two small 4-inch Hook & Ladders run $12.78. The 8-inch mediums most people order run $10-plus — the only medium pair that stays near the line is the build-your-own ham or turkey. Priced on the chain's own ordering system at its Jacksonville San Marco store, July 2026 — prices vary by store, so confirm at yours.
