🌉 Pittsburgh Meal Deals

Best Cheap Eats in Pittsburgh
Two People, Under $20

🌉 Pittsburgh  ·  15 spots  ·  Updated August 15, 2026

Pittsburgh's food culture is rooted in its working-class, steel-town soul — and that means legendary food at honest prices: sandwiches piled with fries and slaw, pierogi from the Strip District to Etna, $3 street tacos on East Carson, and a roughly $6.50 pizza that keeps Oakland fed at 2am. One honest note: this town's prices are moving fast, so we print a dollar figure only when a restaurant's own menu backs it up — everywhere else, the card tells you to call first.

Primanti Bros.

Two Signature Sandwiches — prices not posted

The Pittsburgh original since 1933 — sandwiches piled with fries and coleslaw right in the bun. Here's the honest part: Primanti's own menu lists every sandwich and not a single price, and its ordering site hides the numbers too. Recent reads put the classic meat sandwiches (capicola, the Pitts-burger) at $11–16 each — a pair can clear $20 easily — while the cheese and egg-and-cheese sandwiches are the two-for-under-$20 play. Price it in the app or call (412) 263-2142 before you commit.

Pamela's Diner

Two Short Stacks — $17.98

Pittsburgh's beloved breakfast institution, famous for crepe-thin hotcakes with crispy lacy edges. Per the menu PDF on their own site (dated July 2026): a short stack is $8.99 — $17.98 for two — and the full crepe-style hotcakes are $9.79 each, a knife-edge $19.58 pair, 42 cents under the line before tax. Two-egg breakfasts pair at $19.98. Skip the add-ons and you're in. Pamela's has a long cash-only reputation their site neither confirms nor denies — bring cash to be safe, or call (412) 281-6366.

Salem's Market and Grill

Halal Grill Plates & Wraps — call for prices

A Strip District halal market and grill packed at lunch — shawarma wraps, falafel plates, and a full halal butcher and international grocery under one roof. The grill's Toast ordering page blocks price checks, so we won't print numbers we can't back: wraps and falafel entrées have historically kept two people well under $20, but call (412) 235-7828 for today's menu. One quirk from their own site: the grill pauses Fridays 1–2pm for prayer.

Cop Out Pierogies

Pierogi by the Dozen — call for prices

A pierogi specialist just across the city line in Etna, with the area's biggest selection of fillings — classic potato-cheese, sauerkraut and mac-and-cheese plus rotating specialty flavors, and a dozen actually comes as 14. Search-indexed menus put dozens in the $7.25–12.75 range, but their own site wouldn't load for our check, so treat that as ballpark and call (412) 973-0068. Limited days — this is a Wednesday-to-Saturday operation.

Mike & Tony's Gyros

Two Gyros — call for current prices

A family-run Pittsburgh Greek institution for 50-plus years, with shops downtown and on the South Side. Gyros have run roughly $8–10 in store, which lands two plain gyros right around the line — but the owner site blocked our menu check, so confirm before you order, and skip the fries-and-drink combo if you're holding the $20 cap.

Doce Taqueria

Street Tacos — about $3 each

A South Side taqueria on East Carson Street beloved for fresh street tacos — carnitas, pollo, ground beef. The $3-a-taco price is widely corroborated but lives behind a Toast ordering wall we can't read, so we're saying "about." Six tacos — three apiece — land near $18. Address and hours come straight from their own site, and they run to midnight on weekends. (412) 238-8518.

Las Palmas Carniceria

Sidewalk Street Tacos — reported $2.50

A Brookline Mexican grocery and butcher with a sidewalk taco grill out front — steak, al pastor, chicken and a free toppings bar, ordered at the register. Reviewers through mid-2026 consistently report $2.50 tacos, but the shop's old website is dead and it publishes no prices anywhere it controls, so confirm at the counter: (412) 344-1131. Bring cash — it's strongly preferred at the stand.

Tram's Kitchen

Banh Mi — call first

Pittsburgh's longest-running Vietnamese spot (Bloomfield, since 1997) — a cash-only counter with no website, no ordering page, no posted prices at all. Banh mi have long run about $8, but Vietnamese prices in this town just moved hard (see Pho Van in the cuts below), so treat that number as history until you've phoned (412) 682-2688. If it holds, it's still the best sandwich math in the city. Cash only; ATM on site.

S&D Polish Deli

Pierogi & Kielbasa Plates — call for prices

A Strip District Polish deli, restaurant and grocery rolled into one — potato-cheddar pierogies, smoked kielbasa-and-kraut bowls, stuffed cabbage. Their site renders empty to menu checks, and the pierogi-and-bowl figures floating around search results aren't numbers we can vouch for. Two hearty plates have historically stayed in the mid-teens; call (412) 281-2906 for today's board. Heads-up: several recent reports say closed Tuesdays, so don't assume daily.

Spak Brothers

Whole Pies to Split — call for prices

A Garfield pizza shop (whole pies only, no slices) famous for a deep vegan menu — soy-cheese pizza, seitan wings — alongside the classics, plus pierogi and steak subs. A large pie feeds two and has historically landed in the teens, but their Toast ordering page blocks price checks, so we won't quote a number. Two fixes from their own site: they're now evenings only, Tue–Sun 3–9pm, closed Monday — and there's no phone; order online or email spakhelp@gmail.com.

Antoon's Pizza

16-inch Cheese Pizza — about $6.50

A Central Oakland late-night legend by Pitt's campus, where 2026 reports put a 16-inch cheese pizza at about $6.50 for pickup — one pie feeds two for pocket change. Antoon's has no web presence of its own (the "menu" sites claiming to be theirs are lookalike junk — ignore them), so that's consistent word-of-mouth math, not owner-verified. Call (412) 687-5446. Takeout; open into the small hours.

💡 Pro tip: We print a dollar figure only when the restaurant's own menu or ordering system backs it up — those cards carry the ✓. A lot of Pittsburgh kitchens sit behind Toast ordering pages that block price checks, so "call for prices" means exactly that, and we won't pass off delivery-app markups or lookalike "menu" sites as fact. Prices here are moving fast (see the cuts below) — check before a special trip, and if something's expired, flag it on our main directory so we can fix it.

Sheetz

Meal Bundlez — Two-Person Math in the App

Pittsburgh runs on Sheetz — the Altoona, PA-born 24/7 made-to-order kitchen keeps eight-plus stores inside the city, and the Meal Bundlez board on its own ordering menu does the two-person math for you. Our July 2026 read had the Hot Doggie Delight (six dogs, two Extra Biggz appz, two drinks) at $19.16+ and the Tailgate for 2 at $19.55+ — knife-edge margins of well under a dollar, and the "+" means starting price. Prices move with your store and your picks, so let the app quote yours before you count on it. Open 24/7.

Jet's Pizza

$5 Off Any Specialty Pizza Online — check your store's price

The Detroit-style original — Sterling Heights, Michigan, 1978, the chain that made the buttery, caramel-crusted square a national thing — serves the area from Dormont, a borough just over the city line. The play is the $5 Off Any Specialty Pizzas deal built into the chain's online ordering: on our August 2026 read (at another market's store — this location's menu blocked the check), a $22.87 medium All Meaty rang up $17.87 with the deal, and a medium is eight big slices, plenty for two. It's a deals-menu item that can rotate out; if it does, texting your order to your store takes 15% off menu-priced pizza. Prices vary by store, so run the math at the Dormont store before checkout.
