M&M Ranch House
Share a Big Breakfast — $17 for Two
A family-owned Red Bluff diner on Antelope Blvd with full breakfast prices on its own site. Egg plates and omelets run 16 to 24, so the value play for two is sharing off the griddle: a short stack (10) plus a waffle (7) is 17 for two, or two short stacks land right at 20.
Tremont Cafe
Two $10 Value-Meal Breakfasts — ~$20 (Downtown Main Street)
Family-run downtown cafe owned by Steve and Laurie Hill, breakfast served all day. Look for the $10 Value Menu — chicken-fried steak with egg, three-egg omelets, biscuits and gravy. Two value plates land two diners right around the $20 line, leaving room for an iconic Tremont cinnamon roll to share. Morning regulars greet each other by name; out-of-towners get the same warmth. Counter seating, find-your-own table on busy weekends. Open 6:30am–2pm every day. 731 Main St.
Bartels Giant Burger
Two Hamburgers + Shared Fries — Under $20 (Family Burger Spot Since 1975)
Family burger institution founded by Dennis and Carole Bartels in 1975, now run by son Eric and Victoria Fowler — three Shasta County locations plus this Red Bluff spot tucked into the historic 1887 Stricker Bakery building. Honest 2-for-20 math: hamburger $6.30 ($13 meal), Giant Hamburger half-pound $6.80, Garden Burger or Grilled Chicken Sandwich $6.90, Polish Dog $5.90. Two basic burgers à la carte run $12.60 with cash to spare for shared fries. Red Bluff hours run shorter than the other locations: Wed–Sun 8am–3pm, Fri–Sat dinner 6–10pm with rotating menu and live music. 723 Walnut St.
Bud's Jolly Kone
Two Cheeseburger Deluxes — $8.30 (Roadside Drive-In Since 1967)
Locally and family-owned roadside drive-in stand since 1967, the kind of small-town soft-serve joint that's mostly disappeared from California. Walk-up window or order inside. Cleanest 2-for-20 play in town: Hamburger Deluxe $3.50 (two for $7), Cheeseburger Deluxe $4.15 (two for $8.30), Single BJK Burger with bacon and onion rings $5.84. Add fries and one of 35 milkshake flavors and two diners still come in under $20. Famous for homemade tacos and old-fashioned soft-serve dipped cones. Mon–Sat 10am–9pm, closed Sundays. E's Locker Room
Share a Small Pizza ~$19 — River Views (Family Spot Since 1984)
Family-owned dive bar and pizza spot purchased by Elmer and Babs Fries in 1984 from the Twitchell family — that's where the "E" comes from. Sits right on the Sacramento River with a deck overlooking the water that's one of the prettiest sunset spots in town. Famous for the E-6 calzone, an original from Big E in 1984, and pizzas baked in a 60+ year old stone-bottom oven with hand-made dough. Reopened April 2024 after a July 2022 fire. Sharing a pizza with a glass of craft beer or cider keeps two diners under $20. Wed–Thu 4–8:30pm, Fri 4–9pm, Sat 12–9pm, Sun 10–8:30pm. Closed Mon–Tue. 1075 Lakeside Dr.
Luigi's Pizza and Pasta
Share a Medium Pizza or Two Sandwiches — Under $20
Locally owned Italian institution at the Belle Mill plaza. House-made pizza dough, sourdough-roll sandwiches, pasta, wings, and a 30-inch "Big Luigi" pizza for groups. Honest 2-for-20 math: small sourdough roll sandwich $9.50 (two for $19), large $14, French Dip $13. Two small sandwiches with shared salad fits comfortably; a 12-inch medium specialty pizza split between two also lands under $20 in most cases. Alcatraz American Food and Taqueria
Quesabirria Combo + Tacos for Two — Under $20
Family-run Mexican-American kitchen on the south end of Main, 4.3 stars on Google. Quesabirria combo plate (two tacos, rice, beans, and a side of consomé broth for dipping) is the headline order — fits two people if you add another taco or two. Strong picks: gobernador shrimp tacos, fresh ceviche tostadas with mango, and chicken burrito plates. Friendly service noted in nearly every review. Daily 10am–8pm. 343 S Main St.
Maple Garden
Two Mini Plates — $18.20 (Top-Ranked Chinese in Town)
Family-owned Chinese spot in the Belle Mill plaza, ranked the top Chinese restaurant in Red Bluff by repeat reviewers. Steam-tray combo system: Mini Plate $9.10, Deluxe Plate $12.70 (any two entrées with chow mein and fried rice). Two mini plates run $18.20 — generous portions, lots of food. Salt-and-pepper shrimp, beef chow fun, and pot stickers (typically 8 in the order despite the menu saying 6) are local favorites. Closed Tuesdays. Cash or card. 138 Belle Mill Rd.
Ikkyu Japanese Restaurant
Two Classic Rolls — $17.50 (Authentic Japanese)
Authentic Japanese spot in Suite 4 at 645 Antelope Blvd, owner Miki F. Surprises a lot of travelers — multiple reviewers note they didn't expect this caliber of Japanese food in a small NorCal town. Cleanest 2-for-20 plays: California Roll $8 + Spicy Tuna Roll $9.50 = $17.50; or grab a Philly Roll ($9) and a California ($8) for $17. Add edamame ($5) if budget allows for $22. Shrimp Tempura Roll $12, Ramen $13, sushi platters, and donburi rice bowls round out the menu. Mon–Sat 3–8:30pm, closed Sundays.
Lariat Bowl
Share a 12-inch Cheese Pizza — $15.95 (Bowling Alley)
Dinner and ten frames — the bowling-alley kitchen's 12-inch cheese pizza is $15.95 on its own menu (pepperoni $16.95), so two can split a pie for under $20 between games. Grab a lane and make a night of it.
Los Amigos Taqueria
Burrito $10 + Enchilada Plate $8 — Under $20
Downtown Mexican meat-market taqueria with an attached taco truck — authentic and generous. Regular burritos run $10 and a three-cheese-enchilada plate $8, so a burrito plus a shared plate keeps two under $20. A longtime local staple.
Taqueria Los Compadres
Street Tacos ~$4 — Four for Two Under $20
Well-reviewed taco truck with covered seating east of the river — fast service and good char. Tacos run about $4 each, so four tacos feed two for around $16, or split a $14 super burrito. Fresh salsa, quick out the window.
SIP Coffee Bar
Breakfast Sandwich $10 · Burrito $12 — Under $20
A downtown coffee bar doing real breakfast — the breakfast sandwich is $10 and the breakfast burrito or bowl $12, so two people do coffee-shop breakfast for right around $20.
Main Street Deli
Build-Your-Own Sandwich $8 — Two for $16
Locally owned deli on North Main piling made-to-order sandwiches, salads and soups. The build-your-own sandwich is just $8 — meat, cheese and the works — so two sandwiches run $16, comfortably under $20. (Specialty subs cost more.)
Pro tip: Round-Up week (late April) packs every downtown spot — hit lunchtime gems like Maple Garden, Bud's Jolly Kone, the new Main Street Deli ($8 build-your-own), or SIP Coffee Bar for shorter waits. River-view sunset pizza at E's Locker Room is the move on a warm evening.
