Every item below was checked against an owner source or the operator's own announcement in July 2026 — the closures, the phantom stores, and one restaurant website that never should have shipped.
Court House Cafe shipped a website with the builder's demo still in it. A beloved Great Bridge institution since 1985, rebuilt its dining room in 2023 — and its Wix site's page title is still the default "My Site 3," its Facebook and Instagram links point at Wix's own corporate accounts, its contact block prints the zip as "VA 2332," and it still carries a live notice honoring $20 gift certificates sold in December 2022. The menu is published only as images (the files are even named "11.25" for November 2025), so a price only comes off a hand-check — which is how the Lunch Feature above got carded. It's the cleanest example on this whole campaign of the small-business web problem, a forty-year favorite whose own site works against it.
A disabled online store is not a closed restaurant. Southside BBQ runs WooCommerce, and right now most items read "currently not available for purchase" — while every price stays published and readable. That's the mirror image of a paused Toast store, which shows nothing at all. The lesson for anyone reading a menu online: a switched-off ordering button doesn't tell you the price is stale, and it doesn't tell you the door is locked — check the platform, then check the hours separately.
Golden Corral on Volvo Parkway is gone — the apps didn't all notice. After about 30 years, the franchisee (BOTH Inc.) couldn't reach a lease deal with the landlord and the buffet closed for good in 2024.
