🌅 Local Chula Vista Meal Deals
We re-audited this page in August 2026 against each restaurant's own menu. Cards marked ✓ VERIFIED had their price read off an owner source (the restaurant's own site or its own ordering page). Cards marked ⚠ PRICE CHECK PENDING are places we believe belong here but whose owner menu posts no prices or was unreachable — the figures are our best read, so call before you count on them.
Caliano Pizza
Two Cheeseburgers $7 each — Two for $14
An independent NY-style pizzeria on Brandywine that also grills burgers and subs. Its own Slice menu prices a cheeseburger at 7.00 and fries at 5.00, so two burgers land at 14 or a burger-plus-fries meal for two comes to 12.
Pizzeria El Jefe
Cheese Pizza $11.69 + Churros — Two for $16
A family-owned Broadway spot doing Mexican-style pizza since 2018. Its own Slice menu lists a cheese pizza at 11.69 that easily feeds two, and churros mexicanos at 4.49 round it out under twenty.
Pho Hiep Grill
Banh Mi from $5.50 — Two for about $12
A single-location Vietnamese spot on Telegraph Canyon Rd — new to the page. Its own website menu lists takeout banh mi from 5.50, with the Hiep Special Combo at 6.50 and grilled chicken or pork at 6, so two sandwiches feed a pair for roughly 12.
Tacos El Gordo
Tijuana Trompo Tacos Since 1972
The Tijuana adobada temple's Chula Vista home is now 556 Broadway (the old H St spot closed when this one opened). Tacos run about $3.75–4.50 — two people eating a few apiece land around $16–18. Stick to tacos; pay per station.
Mariscos y Birrieria El Prieto
Twin Trucks: Mariscos + Birria
A Main Street pair of food trucks — one seafood, one birria and meats — with a free consommé stand in between. The fish tacos get called the best in San Diego, the aguachile and marlin tostadas are loaded, and the tortillas are handmade. Big portions, low prices, lots of regulars. Two eat for around $16.
Mariscos Fili La Carreta
Baja Fish & Gobernador Tacos
A beloved South Bay mariscos truck where the Baja-style pescado taco is the classic order and the gobernador — shrimp melted into a crisped, cheesy corn tortilla — is the showstopper. Add a tostada and an agua fresca and you're set. Two eat for around $15.
Roberto's Taco Shop
The Original San Diego Taco Shop
The 24-hour Roberto's on Broadway. Burritos run $10–12.50 these days, so the two-for-around-$20 play is rolled tacos plus a burrito split — two full burritos runs $25.
Tacos El Poblano
Street Tacos & a Wall of Salsas
An E H St taco shop with quality meats and made-to-order tortillas. Tacos run about $3.50, so two people at two or three tacos each land around $18–22 — pricier than the average taco shop, but the quality shows.
El Pollo Grill
Flame-Grilled Chicken & Burritos
A Bonita-born charcoal chicken specialist. The half-chicken plate with tortillas, beans and salsa feeds two for about $18–20; the whole-chicken family meal now runs $35+. Eastlake/Otay Ranch location.
Max's Restaurant
Famous Filipino Fried Chicken
The Filipino fried-chicken institution's Chula Vista outpost on Olympic Pkwy. A whole 'sarap-to-the-bones' fried chicken alone runs about $20, so two people with rice realistically land at $25–28 — split-and-share still beats most sit-down Filipino meals.
La Bella Pizza Garden
Third Avenue Institution Since 1955
A downtown Chula Vista landmark on Third Avenue since 1955, family-run and beloved for its pizza, lasagna and pasta, with a sports bar, billiards and an arcade in back. Two can split a medium pizza (or a salad and a platter of spaghetti) and stay under budget. Two eat for around $20.
The Empanada Spot
Handmade Argentinian Empanadas
A little hidden gem turning out handmade Argentinian empanadas — flaky, generously filled, and offered in a rotating range from classic beef to chicken and cheese. Grab a few between two with a side and you've got a cheap, satisfying detour from the taco circuit. Two eat for around $16.
Los Taquitos Taco Shop
Tacos & Standout Breakfast Burritos
A Broadway taco shop locals lean on for dependable tacos and, especially, breakfast burritos that hold up well into the afternoon — plus the rare luxury of easy parking. Quick, friendly and cheap. Two eat for around $15.
Tacos el Vaquero
Small Stand, Big Flavor
A Tijuana-style truck parked by 3 Punk Ales Brewery on Third Ave, grilling into the night. Off its own online menu tacos are $4.50, so four (two each) come to $18 for two; the loaded adobada burrito ($16) is more of a splurge for one.
SeaTaco
Seafood Truck with Free Broth
A Broadway mariscos truck with free seafood broth while you wait. Premium seafood tacos run about $5–6 each, so two people realistically spend $22–28 — a notch over budget, but the smoked marlin and shrimp tacos earn it. Tue–Sun 10am–7pm.

California Pizza Kitchen
One Margherita Pizza Split Two Ways · $17.69
CPK — the chain that invented the BBQ chicken pizza in 1985 — prices like the sit-down restaurant it is: two people each ordering a main start at $33.58. The honest under-$20 route is to split. Every pizza is a 6-slice thin crust, and the cheapest, the Margherita, reads $17.69 at the 2015 Birch Road store on CPK's own online ordering, August 2026 — $8.85 a head when two people share one. The Traditional Cheese is $18.69 and the Mac 'N' Cheese, the cheapest main plate at $16.79, splits the same way. With actual kids along the math turns kind: every CPKids pizza and pasta entrée is $8.49. The traps are ordering like two separate customers and the specialty list — pizzas beyond the basic three start at $19.69, and drinks push even a split pizza to the line, so it's a water-and-share play. CPK runs exactly three price tiers nationally — $16.69 to $18.69 for the same Margherita — so confirm at yours; the dine-in menu can read slightly different from the ordering site.
