There is a version of this article on about four hundred websites, and most of them are copies of each other. The tell is that they all list the same retired Einstein Bros. program, the same expired Dunkin promo, and the same National Coffee Day offers from a year that has already happened. Nobody opened an app.

So: every standing offer below was checked against the company's own website, app or press release on July 28, 2026. Where sources disagreed, we say so instead of picking the tidier answer. Where something is a forecast, it is in the forecast section and nowhere else.

One caveat that applies to nearly everything here: participation varies by location, especially at franchised stores. A corporate promotion is not a promise that the store nearest you is honoring it. Call ahead if you are making a special trip.

Del Taco gives Del Yeah! Rewards members a free hot or iced coffee with any purchase, every day before 11 a.m. That is the whole offer. It is not tied to a breakfast item, it is not a limited-time promo, and it is not restricted to upper rewards tiers — the benefit is listed at every tier, including the free entry level.

• Any purchase counts. It does not have to be breakfast food.
• Every tier qualifies, from the free base tier up.
• You must be enrolled in Del Yeah! Rewards and redeem through the app.
• The window is before 11 a.m., seven days a week.

Buy a $1.69 breakfast taco, get the coffee free. That is the cheapest daily caffeine habit on this page by a wide margin, and it is the only one you can use all 365 days of the year. The one wrinkle for couples: the offer redeems against a rewards account, so if you both want a coffee you both need an account. It is a 60-second signup each. This one surprises people. IKEA Family membership is free to join, and IKEA states on its own site that members get a complimentary cup of coffee or tea every time they visit.

Not with a purchase. Not once as a signup bonus. Every visit.

The catch is geography. There are not many IKEA stores in the US, so this is only useful if you happen to live near one. But if you do, it is the single best standing offer on this page, because it is the only one that asks nothing of you at the register. Members also get a birthday coupon, typically around $10 off, and it is good for the whole birthday month rather than the single day.

Starbucks brought back free in-store refills in January 2025, and a surprising number of daily customers still do not know it exists.

How it works: order any beverage "for here" — meaning in a ceramic mug, a glass, or a clean reusable cup you brought yourself. Drink it. Then, before you leave, ask for a refill of hot brewed coffee, iced coffee, hot tea or iced tea. Free.

• Your first drink can be anything. A latte, a Frappuccino, whatever. The refill itself is brewed coffee or tea, but the purchase that unlocks it is not restricted.
• There is no stated limit on refills during a single visit.
• You cannot leave. Stepping outside ends the visit, and the refill goes with it.
• Excluded: Cold Brew, Nitro Cold Brew, Refreshers, iced tea lemonades and flavored iced teas.
• It works at Target Starbucks counters too.

Sources disagree on one point: whether you still need to show a Starbucks Rewards account. Some say the perk is open to everyone now; others say baristas still ask for the app or card. We could not resolve it cleanly, so we are not pretending otherwise — have the app open and it is a non-issue either way.

Ranked by how fast the free coffee actually arrives. The three green cards below hand you a drink before you have spent a cent.

This one costs nothing to ask for and predates every app on this page.

Diners, family restaurants and most breakfast chains pour free refills on drip coffee, and they rarely advertise it. Waffle House, Cracker Barrel, IHOP, Denny's, Bob Evans and nearly every independent diner in the country operate this way. One cup charged, the pot keeps coming back.

If you are eating breakfast out anyway, that is functionally unlimited coffee for the price of one cup — available every day, nearly everywhere, with no app, no signup, no email address and no data trade. It is the only entry on this page with genuinely no catch beyond dining in.

These take a little spending first, but they are dependable, and convenience-store coffee is cheap to begin with, which means the points go further.

• 7-Eleven and Speedway (7Rewards / Speedy Rewards). 10 points per dollar, 1,000 points converts to a dollar of store credit, and a free any-size hot or iced coffee lands around the 1,500-point mark. Signing up drops a chunk of bonus points in your account immediately, which gets you most of the way there before you have bought anything.
• Casey's, Circle K, Wawa, Sheetz. All four run points programs where coffee is among the cheapest redemptions available. If one of these is on your commute, the app pays for itself faster than at any sit-down coffee chain.

Every chain advertises "earn free coffee." Almost none of them tell you how much you have to spend to get there. Here is the math side by side, cheapest first. The spread is enormous.

Read that top to bottom. Peet's hands you a free coffee essentially on arrival. Dutch Bros wants roughly eighty-three dollars of spending for the same thing through its points ladder. Neither chain advertises the number.

Two things worth knowing beyond the table. Peet's is the best signup value on this list, because the 125-point bonus on your first in-app purchase is more than double the 50 points a free coffee costs. And Dunkin raised its redemption prices — a free regular coffee went up by around 100 points, lattes and other customized drinks by 50, and breakfast sandwiches from 800 to 900. Dunkin points now expire after a year, so banking them is no longer free either.

Watch expiration dates generally. McDonald's points expire on the first day of the month after the sixth month from when you earned them, which is faster than most people assume.

Several apps hand you a drink for downloading them, no spending required. These are the road-trip plays.

• Pilot and Flying J (myRewards): a free drink, often coffee, just for enrolling.
• Maverik (Maverik Rewards): free fountain drink on signup.
• 7-Eleven: signup bonus points large enough to cover a free drink right away.
• Wawa: bonus points after your first purchase.
• Caribou and Dutch Bros: a free medium drink each, as covered above.

This is the most reliable free coffee of the year, and almost nobody sets it up in time. Most programs require your birthday to be on file before the month arrives. So the move is to enroll now for a birthday later — even if that birthday is nine months out.

Confirmed birthday drink programs include Wawa (free any-size coffee or fountain drink), Sheetz, Casey's, Circle K, 7-Eleven, Starbucks, Dutch Bros (any size up to 32 ounces, 30 days to redeem), Caribou, Peet's, Tim Hortons, Krispy Kreme and Panera.

Two useful quirks. Dutch Bros reportedly still delivers the reward even if you create the account on your birthday itself, which is unusual and worth knowing if you are reading this on the day. And IKEA Family's birthday coupon is good for the entire month rather than a single day.

Worth noting for completeness: Del Taco's birthday reward is a shake or dessert with purchase, not coffee. You already get their coffee every morning anyway.

Most military coffee offers are one day a year. One is not.

Casey's provides a complimentary coffee or fountain drink year-round to active-duty military and to uniformed first responders, in addition to its Veterans Day offer for veterans with proof of service. That is a standing benefit, not a holiday promotion.

Many chains also run standing 10 to 25 percent military discounts that apply to drinks. Those are worth asking about at the register even when they are not advertised, because a good number of them never appear in marketing at all.

Four days a year produce more free coffee than the other 361 combined.

If you drink coffee out more than twice a week, a subscription beats hunting freebies. It is worth doing the arithmetic honestly rather than taking the marketing at face value.

Panera's Sip Club runs $14.99 a month plus tax, or $119.99 a year. It covers any size drip hot coffee, cafe blend iced coffee, hot tea, fountain soda and select bubbler drinks — once every two hours during normal cafe hours — plus free refills of the same drink during a single in-cafe visit.

Read the exclusions before you sign up, because they are broader than people expect. Cold brew, espresso drinks, cappuccinos, specialty iced coffees, frozen javas, hot chocolate, smoothies and bottled drinks are not included. The iced coffee that is included is the plain cafe blend — no syrups, sauces, cold foam or whipped cream.

The math: at roughly $3 a cup, you break even around five visits a month. Under that, you are subsidizing everyone else's habit.

• Check your receipt. A large share of chain restaurant receipts have a survey code on the back, and the reward is frequently a free drink on your next visit. It takes about ninety seconds.
• Ask about the upsize. Burger King's Royal Perks has offered members a free daily size upgrade that includes coffee. Several chains run similar quiet perks that never appear in advertising, and the only way to find them is to ask.
• Hotel lobbies. If you are staying there, the lobby coffee is included in what you already paid. It is not great coffee. It is free coffee.

Almost everything on this list costs you something that is not money.

A free $2 coffee in exchange for your email address, your phone number, your location and a permanent record of what you buy is a trade, not a gift. These programs exist because the data and the repeat visits are worth more to the company than the coffee. That may well be a fine deal for you — it often is. It is worth knowing that it is a deal.

Two more things to keep in mind. "Free with purchase" is a discount, not a freebie, and about half this page works that way. And participation genuinely does vary by location, especially at franchised stores, so a corporate promotion does not guarantee the store near you is honoring it.

The two offers that ask for nothing at all: IKEA Family, and Wawa Day in April. Everything else wants either your money or your data.

Everything above this line was confirmed with the company. Everything below it was not. These are things other outlets are forecasting for later in 2026 that we have not verified. Treat them as maybes, and do not plan a drive around any of them.

We nearly published Einstein Bros. unlimited coffee as a live standing offer. Here is what happened, because it explains what this page is for.

Search for it and everything looks solid. Trade press covered the 2024 launch. Deal sites list it. Google's snippet of Einstein's own rewards page shows the line "Earn Unlimited FREE Coffee with just one visit," attributed to the company itself. That is about as good as sourcing gets.

Open the actual page and the coffee card is not in the lineup. It survives in a leftover block in the page's code that never got removed, which is what Google is still reading. The image behind the coffee card was uploaded in September 2024. The image behind the $9 Mondays card that replaced it was uploaded in May 2026, and the page was last modified May 21, 2026.

Then we checked the app, which is the only place with the real answer. There is still free coffee at Einstein Bros. It is a rotating limited-time promo plus a 50-point redemption — not the permanent monthly perk the website still appears to advertise.

Three different sources, three different answers, and only one of them was current. The trade press was reporting a program that had ended. The website was showing a card the company had stopped displaying. The app was right.

That is why we date-stamp everything and check the place where the offer actually lives. If a deal on this site says July 28, 2026, somebody looked on July 28, 2026.
