National Food Days 2026
The Ones With Real Deals (and the Ones to Skip)

There's a "national day" for almost every food that exists, and most of them are calendar filler no restaurant honors. But a handful reliably produce free and BOGO food — and for those, we publish verified roundups with the codes, the catches, and the honest for-two math. This is the master calendar for the rest of 2026: what's worth planning around, what to expect from each day, and links to the deep-dives as we publish them.

A quick decoder before the calendar. Food days come in two breeds. Corporate-owned days (National Chicken Finger Day is literally a Raising Cane's trademark) produce fewer deals, but the owner shows up big. Organic days (wing day, cheeseburger day, coffee day) belong to no one, so everyone piles in — usually behind apps, promo codes, and minimum purchases that the headlines skip. Either way, the same rule applies: deals get announced days before, not weeks, so we verify each roundup right before the day itself. Bookmark this page; every date below gets its link as the roundup publishes.

🔥 This Week: The July Deal Stack

Three real food days inside four days — the cheapest week of the summer, and all three roundups are live:

🍗Sun · July 27

National Chicken Finger Day

Cane's turns its trademarked holiday into a Chuck Norris tribute — $1 per Box Combo to Kickstart Kids plus a free finger for members — with Huey Magoo's and 7-Eleven piggybacking. The verified roundup →

🪽Wed · July 29

National Chicken Wing Day

The best organic food day of the summer: free wings at Wingstop and Buffalo Wild Wings (both codes are literally FREEWINGS), BOGO at Hooters, Applebee's, Whataburger, and Popeyes. The verified roundup →

🍰Thu · July 30

National Cheesecake Day

The Cheesecake Factory's Any Slice, Half Price — and unlike 2025, it's open to every dine-in guest, no membership. Two slices ≈ $12 at the most famously over-budget restaurant in America. The verified roundup →

🍂 August: The Quiet Month

August's food days are minor-league — worth an app check if you're nearby, not worth a drive. Ice Cream Sandwich Day (Aug 2) and Chocolate Chip Cookie Day (Aug 4) produce scattered one-off freebies at dessert chains. The one to watch is National Fajita Day (Aug 18) — Chili's usually does something real with its fajitas, and Chili's is one of the best value sit-downs in America right now. Waffle Day (Aug 24) rounds out the month with occasional Waffle House gestures. If any of these produce a deal worth a roundup, it'll appear here.

🍔 September: Two Heavyweights
🍔Fri · Sept 18

National Cheeseburger Day

One of the biggest app-deal days of the year — McDonald's, Wendy's, and Burger King have all run near-free burgers in recent years, with Smashburger and the regional chains piling in. Expect an app-offer flood that needs sorting into real vs. junk. Roundup coming in September.

Tue · Sept 29

National Coffee Day

Wall-to-wall freebies — Krispy Kreme, Dunkin', Panera, and the convenience chains historically pour free or $1 coffee all day. Less a meal than a morning, but it's one of the highest-search food days of the year for a reason. Roundup coming in September.

🌮 October: The Contested One

National Taco Day is our favorite kind of mess: the traditional date was October 4, but Taco Bell campaigned in 2024 to move it to the first Tuesday of October — "Taco Twosday," which lands October 6 in 2026 — and the calendar sites now flatly contradict each other, with some listing dates weeks apart. Half the internet will celebrate on the wrong day; the deals follow the chains, not the calendars, and we'll publish the roundup on whichever date the food actually shows up. Also in October: National Pasta Day (Oct 17), where Olive Garden's never-ending-adjacent promos tend to surface, and Dessert Day (Oct 14) for scattered sweets.

🦃 November: The Big Finish
🥪Tue · Nov 3

National Sandwich Day

Subway's BOGO-footlong history makes this a legitimate two-people-eat-cheap day when it runs, with the deli chains adding app offers. Roundup coming in late October.

🎖️Wed · Nov 11

Veterans Day Free Meals

Not a food day — the single biggest free-restaurant-meal day of the year. Dozens of chains serve veterans and active-duty free entrées, including Texas Roadhouse, Applebee's, and Golden Corral. This one gets the full treatment: a verified chain-by-chain guide, coming early November.

And bringing up the rear: National Fast Food Day (Nov 16), a serviceable app-deal day if the month somehow leaves you hungry.

🗑️ The Ones to Skip

Everything not named above. The calendar sites list a food day for nearly every date on the calendar — National Raspberry Cream Pie Day exists, allegedly — and chains ignore almost all of them. If a day isn't on this page, the honest expectation is zero deals; if that changes, the day gets added. That's the whole method: we list what restaurants actually do, not what the calendar says they should.

💡 How to use this page: bookmark it. Each date's verified roundup gets linked here the week it publishes — codes, catches, and the for-two math included, checked the day before the deals go live. And the other 364 days a year, the full directory has 2,000+ deals that don't need a holiday.
